Data localization
A legal requirement that certain data be stored, and sometimes processed, inside a particular country.
Localization rules come from national law, often for particular sectors or kinds of data, such as health, financial or government data. They are stricter than residency commitments: the organisation has no choice about the location. The GDPR does not require localization; it regulates transfers out of the EU instead.
